Somali government security forces  attacked Universal TV station in Mogadishu
‘’About 10 policemen  entered our gate that was open by then by force.
They asked for the director ,  said I am the one. I told them lets
speak. Then the police started firing at us’’  Abdullahi Hirsi, East
Africa director for universal TV  told reporters on Saturday.
‘’Villa Somalia’s  guards heard the gunfire and came . Then the
policemen went out. We heard the policemen were arrested
‘’the policemen said they were looking for tax but I doubt. They must
have been up to something else we do not know. I nearly died today’’
‘’ I called the police commander but he said he was not aware of the
policemen and that the police were wrong to attack a place’ he added

Reporters in Mogadishu  said the new Somali security forces often
target them while reporting stories.

‘’security  forces in Mogadishu behave as if forces they are ordered
to kill innocent reporters. In the latest blast, security forces
directly fired at us as we covered news’  Guled Abdis Salaad, a camera
man for universal said.
‘’in the past, security forces respected reporters  but these months
since changed.  The new security forces are a threat to our lives and
work. They kick and throw you away and directly fire at you . We have
started  going in groups. Even when covering news all reporters from
various media groups  gather in one place when covering blast news so
that we are not killed one by one by the brutal government forces.
Even when we are at one place, we are denied access to story scenes and chased away at gunpoint ’’ he added
